Amplifying the African American Voice
To ensure I represent the voice of African Americans here in San Francisco, it is imperative that I recognize the disadvantage, oppressed, and substantial setbacks that the African American community experiences, and also recognize the substantial success that the community has also had simultaneously . As a black women first, I will ensure that we address, and right the wrongs done to the African American community by developing plans, and supporting programs that are helping uplift the African American community. Equity, Education, Careers/Business, and Housing are just some of the ways in which specifically we will provide the tools to gain equal footing for our communities.
Education
The family structure of the African American community has to be supported, if not provided with resources to substitute what's missing so that no child lacks. Remember it takes a "village". We are all still learning, growing, building, and education builds tomorrow's leaders. Institutions have to be set up with resources, but while also ensuring that we see us in our learning processes.
Business/Career
Providing business/career support is crucial. I will work to ensure however that we dig deeper into this issue by expanding the reach of business owners here in the community, and providing the resources and tools to get started on their journey. Ensuring that there are prevention resources and programs in place when Emergency situations occur that impact them substantially.
Housing
"We're moving in" we should hear it more often than we do. It's time that policy represents this. The displacement of many in the community is an injustice, but we can move forward to right those wrongs. We can provide more housing resources.
